My Secret Weapon For Candida
After treating many candida patients over the past twenty years, one tends to experiment and try different products out - you use and recommend what works and tend to move on from those products which give poor or average results. Caprylex has now become one of my key anti-candida products, because it effectively inhibits and kills the growth specifically of candida yeast infections in the small and intestine and is very well tolerated. I like to use what works and stop using products which give consistently very average results.
Beware of "die-off"
Die-off is also known as a Herxheimer reaction. You will often find that successful candida treatment can cause in many cases (but certainly not all cases) the rapid death of large numbers of yeast organisms, during which great amounts of toxins are released from the dead candida microorganisms. These toxins cause problems in their own right, but are often attacked by an over zealous immune system, and can also cause allergies in many people. Caprylex does NOT cause die-off, something I have witnessed with many patients in the clinic taking all manner of candida products. To read more about die-off, please click here.
Caprylic acid and Dr. William Crook
Caprylic Acid is designed to nutritionally support the needs of those who want to maintain optimal balance in their friendly flora, it has anti-fungal properties and is widely recognised as one of the KEY candida supplements.

Caprylic acid was first made popular by Dr. William Crook, author of the famous book on internal ecology, "The Yeast Connection." Dr. Crook found caprylic acid to be the most effective anti-candida supplement in the 1980's, and today it is still just as effective, there is no need to take the latest "scientific discovery", chances are you are being duped into paying more than you should for a product without the impressive 50 year track record of caprylic acid. We have chosen Caprylex from Douglas Laboratories because of the exceptionally high level of quality which you will not find in a retail product.
Undecenoic acid is not as effective as caprylic acid
We once used to recommended a product called SF722 (undecenoic acid) but have found caprylic acid to be a much more effective product in most all candida cases, despite what you may read. One company claims undecenoic acid to be "six times more potent" than caprylic acid, when in fact this is not the case, it is all just clever marketing. Our clinic has tried dozens of "candida kill" products but most have not come anywhere near the level of results we now see and experience with Caprylex - and without the aggravations commonly seen.
Caprylic acid inhibits the growth of detrimental yeasts
1 such as candida albicans within the intestines. It exerts this effect via its incorporation into the cell membranes of yeasts - these cell membranes then rupture which kills the yeast cell. The two main components of Caprylex are caprylic acid and capric acid, and are both 10 carbon-chained MCTs (medium chained triglycerides). MCTs have an excellent stability of oxidation, and even though Caprylex has a two-year expiry date, its shelf life is generally considered to be indefinite due to its incredible stability. A big plus is that MCTs are known for not having any taste, scent or color whatsoever.
A big downside of nearly all "anti-candida" products I have used (including undecenoic acid) is that they are NOT sustained release like Caprylex. A major benefit of Caprylex is that it delivers the highest concentration of the purest form of caprylate complex in a controlled-release form to the lower intestinal tract out of any comparable product currently available. Caprylex is a specially buffered compound in a very well tolerated form and can be reliably used without inhibiting the growth of normal gut bacteria necessary for optimal health.
We specialise in candida treatment and have found Caprylex to be extremely well tolerated by even the most yeast-sensitive patients and very effective for the inhibition and control of the several strains of candida in both the small and large intestine.

A study released in Pubmed:
"The susceptibility of candida albicans to several fatty acids was tested with a short inactivation time, and ultra-thin sections were studied by transmission electron microscopy (TEM) after treatment with capric acid. The results show that capric acid causes the fastest and most effective killing of all three strains of C. albicans tested, leaving the cytoplasm disorganised and shrunken because of a disrupted or disintegrated plasma membrane".

Caprylex is a blend of capric and caprylic acids and is the highest potency and quality caprylate complex on the market. Caprylic acid is a saturated fatty acid with proven powerful anti-fungal properties (used for over 50 years). MCTs are derived from coconut oil, and naturally occur in breast milk, goat's milk and butterfat.
Other Uses For Caprylex
Ulcerative Colitis
Deficiencies
2 in short-chain saturated fatty acids such as caprylic acid may contribute to the onset of ulcerative colitis. I always recommend
the UC patient try coconut oil and some coconut milk in their diet. Experimental models of ulcerative colitis indicate that caprylic acid may effectively enhance the growth of beneficial cells in the gastrointestinal tract and may enhance the function of the gastrointestinal tract in general.
Enhance calcium and magnesium absorption
Caprylic and capric acids are primarily known for their ability to combat fungal overgrowth. Merril
3 found they also enhance the absorption of calcium and magnesium. Caster reported a reduction in cholesterol levels.
Directions for use - Dosage from one to 3 tablets daily. Take long term for best results.
Usage and Dosage: I recommend that you ustart with one tablet a day with any meal. Over a period of one week, slowly increase until you take 1 with each meal (or 3/daily). Stay with this regime for a few weeks. Repeat 2-3 week treatment cycles as required. Can be used in conjunction successfully with
Three Lac and
Wild Oregano Oil capsules for maximum effectiveness.
If you want to really shake that chronic ongoing candida problem, add colloidal silver and
Kolorex capsules as well.
Do you like coconut oil? You may want to develop a taste for it if you have candida, because it contains 7500mg of Caprylic acid per 100 grams and is an excellent adjunct in your anti-candida diet approach, along with caprylic acid supplementation.
